Vigorous cleansing

I am sending my dad a bath brush all the way from the Netherlands, because he is super picky about his bath brush. He has been using, and constantly bitching about, this bath brush for like 15 years. Can you believe that a bath brush could have a lifespan of 15 years?? I always bought him a bath brush as a souvenir from my trip - he got bath brushes from Whistler, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, Malaysia, Cambodia, Belgium - in hopes that one of them could satisfy him, but all of them ended up in the trash after a week.

My dad explained that the loofah grew mildew, the boar bristles frayed easily, the handle was too short, the wooden handle was too straight, the plastic handle was too slippery, and the nylon bristles were too soft to give him a "vigorous cleansing" massage in the shower. He tried them, complained about them, chucked them out, and went back to his 15-year-old bath brush. My mom complains that the old bath brush looks ugly, but my dad says it serves him the best. GRRR. This Dutch bath brush is a cheap one, but its bristles are extremely stiff. Let's hope this would be the winner, fingers crossed.

You know what I love? I love the absolute mundanity of this post. It's little details like this that I find most fascinating. It's the kind of thing I love to read, but that I hesitate to write about.

What I wouldn't do for a tub.

I've never used a bath brush. Now I feel like I'm missing out on something really fun!
